I love to bake this time of year when the weather starts turning colder. About this time I start making holiday cookies.
Right now it’s pumpkin shaped cookies with orange icing and candy corn for decorations.
Types of cookie cutters
There are so many to choose from. Also you can use just a regular glass to make round cookies, also a biscuit cutter. Think outside of the box and search for gadgets you already have.
Most commonly made of copper, tin, stainless steel, aluminium, or plastic. Cutouts are the simplest of the cookie cutters; the cutter is pressed into cookie dough that has been rolled flat to produce the shape of the cutter’s outline.
Best Sugar Cookie recipe
This is one of my favorite sugar cookie recipe and it makes about three dozen cookies.You can use this recipe for any holiday cookie, pumpkins,ghosts,turkeys, Christmas bells and even numbers and letters.
Ingredients
Cream in mixer
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
2 eggs
1 tsp of vanilla or almond extract
Dissolve
2 tsp baking soda into one cup of buttermilk
Sift
6 cups of flour
4 tsp of baking soda
1 tsp salt
Add to above
Chill dough at least 2 hours or overnight
Roll gently onto lightly floured surface, will be hard if rolled too thin
Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes
Icing
4 cups powdered sugar
1/3 stick of butter. Softened
1/3 cup crisp
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp almond extract
Use electric mixer for icing mix
