Stainless Steel is less likely to rust when it comes in contact with water. Cutting tools made with stainless steel maintain a usable edge while not having the risk of rusting.

Earthenware utensils suffer from brittleness when subjected to quick change of temperatures. The glazing of the earthenware contains lead which is poisonous.
